SEO AUDITS

An SEO audit goes beyond an automated checklist or report generated using SEMcRush it is a crucial strategic exercise designed to diagnose current performance limitations and chart a clear, actionable path toward genuine revenue uplift.

My approach to the SEO audit is all-encompassing, examining the three fundamental pillars of search visibility. First, I conduct an intensive technical analysis to identify and address any obstacles preventing search engines from efficiently discovering and understanding your site. This includes a detailed analysis of potential crawling, rendering, and indexing issues that could be preventing your content from appearing in search results. Resolving these foundational problems is critical, as even the best content cannot rank if it can't be crawled or indexed.

Second, I assess the quality and strategic deployment of your content and link equity. This involves a thorough review of content quality across your domain, ensuring it aligns with user intent and is optimized for modern search engines (including AEO/GEO considerations). Simultaneously, I analyse your site’s internal linking structure and PageRank distribution. This ensures that equity flows effectively from high-authority pages to your most valuable conversion-driving pages, maximising their ranking potential.

Finally, the audit culminates in strategic recommendations focused on diagnosing and resolving current ranking issues. The final deliverable is not a massive list of tactical tasks, but a focused, prioritised roadmap of broad strategic recommendations. These recommendations are specifically engineered to drive commercial outcomes, ensuring every action taken provides a measurable return on investment and translates directly into improved organic performance, traffic, and sustainable growth.

N.B. The above is an example of what might be covered in an audit and may not be relevant for every website. The size of the website, the markets it operates in and the CMS are all factors that may affect what's covered in an audit

Technical SEO

Technical SEO is the non-negotiable foundation upon which all organic growth is built. It encompasses the vital structural and backend optimisations that ensure search engines can efficiently crawl, render, and index your website. Without a sound technical foundation, even the highest quality content with thousands of links will struggle to gain visibility.

Issues with site speed, architecture, core web vitals, or indexing amy impede your ability to rank, translating into missed opportunities for traffic and conversions.

By resolving these underlying issues, Technical SEO maximises site efficiency, effectively converting your content and link equity into sustained visibility and revenue growth. It is the essential first step to turning your website into a reliable organic growth engine

Content Appraisal

Content SEO moves beyond simply writing and focuses on identifying missed opportunities and maximising the value of  existing assets. Many sites possess a wealth of knowledge currently hidden due to poor targeting or structural inefficiencies.

My content analysis pinpoints areas where you are failing to capture intent, revealing untapped optimisations across your existing pages. This ensures every piece of content is aligned with high-value commercial keywords, not just general traffic drivers.

I systematically review your inventory to flag superfluous pages; those that dilute topical focus or fail to serve any meaningful user purpose. By consolidating or eliminating this redundant content, we ensure your internal linking structure is tight and focused, concentrating authority exactly where it needs to be. This strategic approach transforms your content inventory from a cost center into a powerful, efficient driver of revenue.

Backlink Analysis

A thorough backlink analysis is essential for diagnosing your website's authority profile and ensuring its future growth potential. I delve deep into your referring domains to assess the overall volume and quality of your inbound links.

I focus heavily on a competitive gap analysis, identifying powerful, high-authority links that your rivals possess but you are missing. This allows you to plan proactive acquisition with focus and precision.

I also analyse your link acquisition trends and domain-level authority. The goal is to fortify your authority, maximise the benefit of every earned link, and provide a strategic roadmap for acquiring powerful editorial mentions that directly address missed opportunities vs. competitors, driving sustainable organic growth and supporting your revenue goals

PRICING AND SCOPE

The pricing and scope of a comprehensive SEO audit are highly customised, depending entirely on the size and complexity of your website. These audits are strategic investments, rather than fixed-price commodities, and every audit will look slightly different.

The time commitment directly scales with the volume of data and pages needing inspection. For smaller sites, typically those with under 1,000 pages, an audit may often be completed within 2-5 days. This allows for rapid identification of foundational issues and immediate strategic deployment.

Conversely, large enterprise websites featuring 10,000 or more pages will inevitably require significantly longer time frames, often taking several weeks

.

This extended duration accounts for the deep analysis required for technical architecture, extensive content inventory review, internal linking analysis, and thorough competitive gap analysis. My custom pricing reflects the detailed, commercially-focused strategy required to effectively manage growth at that scale.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.

1. What exactly is an SEO audit?
An SEO audit is a comprehensive evaluation of your website’s search visibility. It looks at technical factors (like crawlability and indexing), content quality and relevance, internal linking and authority, and competitive positioning — all with the goal of identifying what’s holding your site back in search engines and how to fix it.

2. Why should I invest in a professional SEO audit?
Unlike automated audits that produce boilerplate checklists, a professional SEO audit delivers tailored insights and a strategic roadmap designed to improve organic traffic, visibility and revenue. This means prioritised recommendations you can act on, framed around your site’s performance and business goals

3. What’s included in your SEO audit?
Our audits typically cover:
• Technical SEO issues (crawlability, indexing, site structure)
• Content quality and user-intent alignment
• Internal linking and PageRank distribution
• Backlink profile and competitive gaps
• Prioritised strategic recommendations to improve rankings and growth

(These elements ensure your audit goes beyond surface-level findings and focuses on real opportunities — not just flags.)

4. How long does an SEO audit take?
Audit durations depend on your site’s size and complexity. Smaller websites often take a few days, while larger sites with many pages may take several weeks for a deep, strategic review.

5. How much does an SEO audit cost?
Pricing depends on your website’s size, market and goals. Because my audits are bespoke and focused on revenue uplift, we customise costs rather than using fixed prices the time and depth required scale with your needs. Having said that, my current day rate is £450, so a small site may cost £900-£1800, while a large site audit will cost significanty more.

6. Do I get a report at the end?
Yes. You’ll receive a clear, actionable report that highlights key issues, explains their impact on your site’s performance, and offers prioritised recommendations that align with your commercial goals. The reports usually take the form of a deck and/or a spreadsheet.

7. What if I don’t understand the technical recommendations?
Part of my service is breaking down complex SEO issues into plain language so you understand what needs to be done and why. I can also support implementation if needed.

8. How often should I have my site audited?
It’s a good practice to audit your site regularly, at least once a year, and also after any major changes (like a redesign or migration) to make sure technical and content issues haven’t crept in. The regularity should also depend on how 'fast-moving' your site is.

9. Will an SEO audit improve my rankings immediately?
An audit itself doesn’t change rankings. Its value is in uncovering exactly what needs to be fixed and giving you a roadmap to do that. Once recommendations are implemented, you can expect to see improvements in organic traffic and visibility over time.

10. Can I do an SEO audit myself with a tool?
There are automated tools that offer basic reports, but they rarely diagnose why issues exist or how to fix them strategically. A professional audit combines data with experience to give you meaningful, tailored insights, not just a list of 'critical' issues
